Whats the difference between astringent and toner?

Which should I use? and when do I use it, in the morning or at night?Whats the difference between astringent and toner?
Read ingredients--both are watery and are applied with cotton balls. Repeat until the ball is clean after wiping on your face. Astringent usually contains alcohol or something else meant to zap oil. It may burn or leave your skin feeling dried out. Probably too strong for shaved areas but good for reducing shine. Toner MAY be a prettier word for astringent, but they are often milder with no alcohol. To me they are like smelly water...total waste. They are meant to clean and ';balance'; your skin. If oily, use astringent; if dry, use an oil-free lotion (my bf stole my oil of olay daily moisturizing lotion with spf 15) and skip toner, in my opinion. If you're trying to improve your skin, it is most key to wash your face, then use astringent (or toner) with a cotton ball before bedtime. Perhaps again in am if oily.Whats the difference between astringent and toner?
Astringent is usually something to keep blemishes away while toner evens out the coloring of your skin if it's blotchy, and helps keep it clean as well. Astringent can be used anytime, but putting it on at night is probably the best. Toner is usually used in the mornings. If you feel your skin tone looks fine, you don't need toner, and if you don't have blemish problems, you don't need the astringent.
about 2 bucks.

You don't need it, so don't use it.
astringent will strip your skin of all oils, dirt etc. especially good for acne prone skin but in excess can be drying

toner helps restore the natural balance of skin after cleansing, helps close the pores - most people should use this rather than astringent.

use after cleansing your face, which should be done in the morning and at night

side note: don't sleep with SPF products on your face, it will clog pores and only make any skin condition worse!
No difference, really, except sometimes toner doesn't have as much alcohol..? Maybe? I think it's really just a name thing. You use it after you wash your face. If you have normal skin, use it just once a day, maybe after you wash your face at night. (My thought: better to use it at night when your skin will be clean for 8 or so hours and benefit the most from it.) It will help get oils and dirt out of your pores.

Some people say you don't need it. However, it helped my skin, so I use it.
Astringent if you have oily skin and Toner if you have normal or dry skin. You should use it twice daily after cleansing your face! glad to see a guy taking care of his skin!!! Keep up the good work!
