What's the difference between astringent and toner?

An astringent may have alcohol or witch hazel in it and is used for taking off the excess oil on your skin-should only be used if your skin is super oily. May have menthol in it too. A toner doesnt (neccessarily) have alcohol in it but it is used after cleansing your skin to remove any traces of cleanser, makeup residue, etc that may still be on it. It prepares your skin completely for any anti aging treatments-serums, creams, or just moisturizer, so they can penetrate your skin better. A word about astringents: make sure you really DO have oily skin or youll strip your skin of natural oils which will prompt your oil glands to make more to compensate for what you took away and what it thinks its missing. Good luck! What's the difference between astringent and toner?
