Can i dye my hair light blonde and then use a ash blonde toner to cover the red\orange?

I have brown hair and i know there is a chance that when i dye it blonde it will turn orange\red.Can i dye my hair light blonde and then use a ash blonde toner to cover the red\orange?
If you lighten your hair with haircolor, be sure to choose a haircolor with a cool base, such as blue or violet. These bases will counteract warm tones and give you more of an ash blonde. If you are lightening your hair with a bleach product, lift it past the orange state into more of a yellow or pale yellow to pull out the most warmth. If you want to ';tone'; down any warmth afterwards, use a demi permanent haircolor with 10 volume or less for 15 minutes or less to tone out any additional unwanted brassiness. Your toner should also have a blue or violet base to counteract the most warmth. Miss Clairol HL-B is an example of a permanent haircolor with a blue base that will give you 5 levels of lift and deposit a cool ash base. Or, Clairol Professional Premium Creme 12A will give you the same lift and coolness in a creme haircolor. If you go with a permanent haircolor to lighten, you can follow up with blonde highlights with bleach to get a little lighter and cooler. Can i dye my hair light blonde and then use a ash blonde toner to cover the red\orange?

How To Color Your Hair

Don't go by what is on the pictures on the boxes -- depending on the highlights in your hair, if you put an ash on it, it could look greenish grey -- not attractive in the least. So know your hair before you start colouring it.
