I use a 7.2 with 10 volume peroxide, leave it on for about 5 - 10minutes but watch it, it might be ready sooner. Rinse and style as usual.
You can also try gen sen violet in a jug of water put about 3 - 4 drops in it and rinse your hair with that.
try using a silver shampoo (its purple in colour though) this will eliminate yellow tomes in hair can be bought from hairdressing supply shops
Vanilla is ok but dont get ash it will look grey
